Employee Benefits

Competitive benefits packages are one of the most powerful tools a small business has to attract and keep great employees.

  • Group health insurance
  • Dental & vision plans
  • Group life & AD&D
  • Voluntary supplemental benefits

Benefits as a recruiting and retention tool

The labor market favors employers who offer real benefits. A well-structured group health plan, paired with dental, vision, and voluntary supplemental benefits, often costs less than losing and replacing a single mid-tenure employee. J. Cazares & Associates helps small and mid-sized business owners build benefit packages that compete for talent without straining the P&L.

Group health insurance

Group health is the cornerstone. We place coverage through the California Covered small-business marketplace, direct-to-carrier plans, and level-funded programs depending on what fits your headcount, demographics, and budget. For businesses with 2–50 employees, we can typically find plans in the same price range as large-employer rates.

Dental & vision

Dental and vision are high-value, low-cost additions. Because usage is predictable, premiums are stable and employee satisfaction per dollar is among the highest of any benefit. We structure PPO-style networks that most employees can use without hassle.

Group life & AD&D

Employer-sponsored life insurance — typically 1x to 2x annual salary — is a fringe benefit employees often value disproportionately to its cost. AD&D (Accidental Death & Dismemberment) pays an additional benefit for accidental losses. Both are easy to bundle with health coverage.

Voluntary supplemental benefits

Employee-paid benefits your team can elect without direct employer cost: short-term disability, long-term disability, cancer/critical illness, accident, and hospital indemnity. These fill the gap between what group health covers and what employees actually owe out-of-pocket. Offering them costs the employer nothing and meaningfully improves the perceived value of your benefits package.

Compliance and administration

ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and state-specific rules apply. We handle the compliance end — notices, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), and mid-year change management — so you can run your business. For employers with 50+ FTEs (ACA applicable large employers), we coordinate with payroll to manage 1094/1095 reporting and affordability calculations.

Service area

Licensed for employee benefits placement across all 50 states. Our bilingual team runs open enrollment meetings in English and Spanish — a meaningful advantage when your workforce includes non-English speakers whose benefit decisions directly affect their families.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a 2-person business offer group health insurance? +

Yes. Under California small-group rules and the ACA, businesses with 1–50 employees can qualify for group health plans. For 2-person businesses the options are a little narrower — but we can often find competitive plans through California Covered's small-business marketplace or direct-to-carrier placements. Dental and vision can be added for most group sizes.
